Kolesnikova O. Cumulative image in fiction: cognitive and functional aspects (based on English literature of the end of the XX-th - beginning of the XXI-st century)

Cumulative image in the system of text imagery. Aim - to demonstrate the process of formation of a cumulative image thus showing the structuring of a complex concept/gestalt which is growing, adding new aspects to the latter through the chain of consecutive contexts, verbalizing separate features of the discussed concept/mental image. Methods used include those of observation/description, comparison/contrast analysis/synthesis. The paper is the first monograp- hic study of cumulative image . It offers typology, functional description, proves analog on positions of cumulative image of the text and the mental image which is materialized. Can be used in most humanities, in academia.
