Shcherbyna S. Verbalization of the concepts SUCCESS and FAILURE in the modern English discourse

The thesis suggests a new approach to the study of the linguistic means of verbalization of the concepts SUCCESS and FAILURE in the modern English discourse; introduces a comprehensive methodology of the verbal representation of the concepts SUCCESS and FAILURE; reveals the peculiarities of the prototypical arrangement (according to the principle of nuclear/ indefinite periphery) of these linguistic means on the cognitive semantic level; defines the dynamic aspect of associative field of the concepts SUCCESS and FAILURE according to gender and age markers; analyzes the potentialities of verbalization of the concepts SUCCESS and FAILURE in the contemporary English fiction and newspaper discourse based on opposed-marked binary connections.
