Essay

Dissertation is devoted to experimental study of antitumor activity of aconitine containing extract from Aconitum soongaricum (BC1) and investigation of possible mechanisms of its influence. It has been established that BC1 possesses significant antitumor activity towards solid variants of transplantable tumors of diferent genesis. Extract BC1 has been shown to inhibit metastasis by more than 85%. Antitumor and antimetastatic effekts of BC1 significantly depend on its dose and biological properties of the tumor. High antimetastatic effect of BC1 at low doses corelates with high angiogenic and low metastatic potential of the tumor, while at high doses-with low angiogenic and high metastatic potential. BC1 demonstrates antivascular activity which is caused by both its influence on electrokinetic characteritics proliferating endotelial cells and high sensitivity of these cells to cytotoxic/cytostatic action of BC1. At low doses BC1 causes inversion of surfase charge of endothelial cells.
