Stryzhak A. The capitalization of the banking system of Ukraine

The thesis is devoted to increasing of capitalization of the banking system of Ukraine. The author determines "the capitalization of the banking system" and the conceptual approach to the level of capitalization of the banking system. A study of equity capital of banks on quantitative and qualitative characteristics. The necessity of implementing a comprehensive assessment of the capitalization of the banking system, the estimation of capitalization and capital adequacy of domestic banks in terms of three target groups for economic performance and functionality. The significance of inner potential for increasing the volume of bank capitalization. The content requirements of the new capital adequacy regulation under international Basel standards. The author expected results from their implementation in domestic practice regulation, which emphasizes the decisive role of the national regulator in the capitalization of the banking system. Methodical approaches to consolidation of bank capital, based on indicators of concentration and carried through mergers and acquisitions of banks.
