Essay

The work is devoted to features of photoinduced structure transformation of anisometric molecules in orientationally ordered media. Sign inversion of the cholesteric helix was realized in a non-steroid liquid crystalline mixture with two dopants of the opposite chirality (R-811, PBM). A theoretical explanation of the phenomenon of anomalous increase of helical twisting upon UV irradiation of systems with high concentration of ZhK-440 was proposed. The changes in helical twisting of cholesteric systems doped with molecules with bent-core fragment has been analized.
