Object of Research - the works by J. Barth, J. Heller, I. Hassan, S. Dixon. Goal of Research - the analysis of autobiographical poetics in the books by J. Barth, J. Heller, I. Hassan, S. Dixon. Methods of Research - historical and literary, based on intertextual, narratological, linguistic and stylistic analysis. The research is the first attempt in the Ukrainian literary history that focuses on the analysis of autobiographical poetics in the books by leading American writers J. Barth, J. Heller, S. Dixon, I. Hassan written in the last decades. Exploration of wide literary-historical environment as well as major lines of theoretical discussion and controversy on the problem of subjectivity and autobiograficality (Hassan's parabiography, Paul de Man's autobiographical defacement, Dubrovsky's autofiction, Podoroga's autography) constitutes the framework of the research. The analysis gives ground to suggest that the leading edge of a new mode of autobiographical writing sets challenge to invention, fabrication and impersonation. The writers introduced a new comprehension of ontological truth in autobiographical writing, transgressing the boundaries of fiction and reality, introducing larger referential concerns with the fabric of everyday life, privileging the plea for humanness. The new sets of radically new techniques transform traditional autobiographical coordinates, contributing to further development of American literature. Sphere - the educational process.
