The thesis provides a comprehensive research into linguоpragmatic features of modern English Protestant sermons. According to the identified genre passport, a sermon is viewed as an imperative non-conflict speech genre of event reactive and initiative communicative character, in which implicit means of expression of the addresser’s intentions prevail. The mechanism of formation and verbal realization of the strategy and tactics of influence is analysed.
