The thesis studies an urgent scientific and technical problem, namely the efficient use of diesel-locomotive shunters with a two-unit set by efficient operating mode selection. Simulation theory of the work of diesel-locomotive shunters with a two-unit set has been elaborated. Methods of reducing fuel consumption by such shunters, using efficient operating mode selection of diesel-generating sets have been developed.
