Essay

As a result of the conducted researches in the Northern-steppe subzone of Eastern Ukraine the current status of eight species of rare and extincting rodents of open landscapes was shown. The decline of range, numbers and density was prooved for most of the studied species. The main reasons for this decline became habitat loss, fragmentation of distribution range, isolation and eradication by human.
