The dissertation is dedicated to the complex research of questions of the legal regulation of the alienation of land plots for public needs and on public necessity motives. The historical and legal analysis of such alienation from ancient times to the present is conducted and its legal concepts, legal nature, the basic elements, principles and procedures are considered. The proposals to improve the relevant provisions of the current land legislation of Ukraine are formulated.
