Kinakh L. Nominative and Communicative Properties of the Substantivized Adjective of Modern German

Object of the research is a substantivized adjective (SA) of modern German (model "alt > der/die/das Alte"), subject matter is its nominative and communicative properties. Goal consists in defining nominative and communicative properties of SA of modern German. The dissertation suggests a complex linguistic methodology of studying SA of modern German which presupposes four stages of the empirical material analysis, at each of them appropriate methods and techniques are used. Scientific novelty of the received results lies in suggesting thematic ideographic classification of SA, revealing their lexical semantic specificity, clearing out the ways and means of functioning SA in the sentence as well as the peculiarities of their speech realization. Theoretical importance of the paper is defined by its contribution to the systemic language and discursive studies. Practical value consists in the possibility of using its main thesis in lecture courses on Theoretical Grammar, Lexicology and Stylistics as well as in special courses on Word-building, Lexical Semantics and Text Linguistics.
