Essay

The thesis is devoted to creation of models, methods and information technology of designing databases, based on object-relation data model. This paper presents a detailed analysis of current state of databases design problems, advantages and disadvantages of data models, main trends in database management systems, defined main methods of database design, features of its application and range of tasks. Promising way to solve such problems is the method of database design based on object-relational data model, the advantage of which is the ability to maintain the semantic features of the subject area at data-logical level. First proposed, theoretically substantiated and investigated the model represents an entity by object-relational data model, which, in contrast to the relational model, allows setting and maintaining the integrity constraints at the logical structures level. First formally defined and researched the properties of nested dependencies for composite attributes based on the axioms of functional dependencies of relational data model, which made it possible to take into account the constraints and support for object-relational data model by modern database management systems. Improve the designing method of conceptual database schema based on the model of "entity-relationship" taking into account features for the submission of multi-valued properties of entities, relationships of their subject area units, which in turn made it possible to extend the operating specifications of the model "entity-relationship". Design method for data-logical database structures based on object-relational data model was further improved.
