In the dissertation the main results of the theoretical and methodic research of the investment activity of banks have been summarized. The meanings of the investment activity of the banks, the structure of financial resources, trends of their formation by means of the bank capital availability, bank own capital issue, stock market fund-raising have been determined. Those have extended the concept of the alternative bank investment sources. The role of banks in the system of institutional investors has been identified.
