Essay

Aim of the study: investigate the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy among patients with type 1 diabetes in Ukraine and some of the mechanisms of its development in order to optimize the treatment of this complication. Novelty: it has been demonstrated for the first time that the presence of diabetic retinopathy is a significant risk factor of death for type 1 diabetes patients, irrespective of their age. Leukocytic integrins have been shown to have a pathogenetic importance for the development of diabetic retinopathy. For the first time, the advisability has been grounded, of incorporating the drug Sulodexide into the combined treatment of diabetic retinopathy in patients with type 1 diabetes.
