Essay

Object - minor prose genre samples by the English writers of the late XX - early XXI. Aim - investigation of the creative potentiality and productivity of the feministic idea in its gender version in the English short story of the late XX - early XXI. Methods - integrated. In this dissertation the genre versions of the modern intellectual short story in the aspect of semantic valency of its format (a potential narrative metaphor) and its high adaptation to the time requirements are examined. The genre versions of a short story at the border of the XX-XXI centuries form a wide range of expression concernity a particular subject and spread all over the most significant questions of the time border, that are connected with a problematical spectrum of the postcolonial culture. The gender aspect of this genre variety, prompted by an unstable specific character of postcolonial England cultural studies is accented. The most important characters of the female intellectual short story (I. Murdoch, A. Carter, P. Fitzgerald, A. Byatt, D. Lessing) are analyzed in the context that is motivated with the feminine idea. They touch the sharpest worldviews of a female personality. In this projection the problem of feminine identity, its crisis states and possible ways of personal restoration seem to be rather actual and important. The most vivid example of it is the short story knowledge by D. Lessing, as just in her creative work all the key points of the feminine idea (from its birth, development, crisis) till the transition to the PostFeminine mainstream are interpreted. Application - academic field.
