Essay

The interrelation of cordocentrism philosophy and Ukrainian musical culture is analyzed in the thesis. The key elements and notions of the philosophy of heart, by which creative works of Ukrainian composers of different historical periods and styles are characterized, were determined. The introduction of the concept of Ukrainian musical cordocentrism is explicated. The manifestation of cordocentrism in Ukrainian music is analysed on several levels: historical and stylistic (the significance of the philosophy of heart in the formation of Ukrainian musical Baroque and Romanticism), culturological (vocal and performing tradition), genre and dramatic (elegy as a genre substratum of musical cordocentrism and chamber performance as a leading shape-forming mode of thinking of Ukrainian composers), individual and conceptual (cordocentric psychological portrait of an artist on the example of S. Liudkevych), the analysis of the opera Taras Bulba by M. Lysenko from the point of view of musical interpretation of the philosophical and cordocentric story by M. Gogol).
