Essay

Object: cataract after anterior uveitis. Purpose: to optimize the prevention of cataract progression in patients with chronic anterior uveitis on the base of experimental study of infringements of antioxidant enzymes and thiol-disulfide system in lens and anterior chamber humor on cataract modeling with anterior uveitis with following correction of thiol-disulfide system by aethylmethyl-hydroxypiridini succinas in clinic. Methods: ophthalmological, biochemical, statistical; slit lamp, ocular 90D, spectrophotometer, spectrocolorimetr, straylightmeter. There was established that progression of cataract modeled by combination of allergic anterior uveitis with exposure to high intensity light was accompanied by antioxidant system disorders in lens. The possibility of correction of thiol-disulfide system in lens by aethylmethyl- hydroxypiridini succinas was revealed at experiment, that accompanied by slowing down the development of cataract. The offered method of application of aethylmethyl- hydroxypiridini succinas in the treatment of patients with chronic anterior uveitis, complicated by cataract, led to an encrease in blood levels of glutathione thiol form by 17%, promoted to the prevention of cataract progression in 82% of patients. Results were adopted at SI "The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases & Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine", Ivano-Frankivsk Reginal Hospital, Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University. Sphere of application: medicine, ophthalmology.
