Essay

The model has been proposed to explain the growth of ZnO thin films on the glass substrates by RF-magnetron sputtering. For the first time there was observed the size effect consisting in the change of behaviour of the intrinsic absorption edge temperature dependence for the polycrystalline films of ZnO. It may be used for estimation of the nanocrystallite sizes. For the first time the method of the material growth from vapor phase in air was proposed to obtaine the different types of ZnO nanostructures, such as nanowires, nanorods, nanobelts, nanocombs, nanotetrapods. The spectra of ultraviolet and visible radiation of ZnO nanostructures were interpreted.
