The social and economic role of the innovation activity in business development is defined. The essence, functions, principles are revealed, the basic elements of the organizational and economic mechanism of enterprises' innovation activity are determined. The procedure and system of parameters for evaluating the innovation activities' organizational and economic mechanism is developed. The development trends of Ukrainian aircraft construction enterprises under conditions of transition to the innovative concept are determined. The complex evaluation of the innovation potential of aircraft construction enterprises and diagnostics of functioning of the organizational and economic mechanism of enterprises' innovation activity are performed, determination of the opportunities of mechanism functioning efficiency enhancement is resulted. The needs of activating the use of intellectual resources as a factor of enhanced efficiency of functioning of the organizational and economic mechanism of enterprises' innovation activity are substantiated. The stages for improving the organizational and economic mechanism of enterprises' innovation activity are proposed. The analytical model of formation of the strategy for innovative development of aircraft construction enterprises is elaborated based on the potential of their innovation activity.
