Sidak O. The role of comic effect in the realisation of the confrontational discursive strategy of the English political insult

The aim of research is to determine the cognitive operations, which are in base of comical effect of English political insult as the displaying of strategy of confrontation in English political discourse. The object of analysis is communicative successful English expression-political insult as a display of confrontation strategy of destruction of opponent image and constructing of own positive image in English political discourse. The subject of research is cognitive operation that founds the comical effect of English expression-political insult. A research method integrates acquisition of discoursive directions of cognitive linguistics. Scientific novelty of the work is that cognitive operations are first set and described in it. Theoretical importance is in results and conclusions of the work that can be used in Cognitive Semantics and Cognitive theory of humour, discourse analysis, theory of linguistic regulativness. Practical importance of the work - its results can be used in teaching of courses of stilistics, lexicology and grammar of modern English linguistics.
