Essay

The thesis evaluates the safety factor of the foundations of existing mass-construction bridges without the use of field surveys under the conditions of substantial uncertainty using the methods of the reliability theory. A method has been developed combining the ideas of marginal states method with the ideas of reliability theory, taking into account the probabilistic nature of influencing factors. The results of reliability assessment suggest that despite the increased loads on the foundations, the safety factor and reliability index remain significant.
