Essay

Object of investigation: antimicrobial and antifungal activity of lipophilic fractions of the plant representatives of genus Galium L. and Artemisia L. The aim: microbiological grounding of prospects of development of antimicrobial medicines made on the basis of substances of plant origion of the representatives of genus Galium L. and Artemisia L. Methods of investigations: microbiological, biochemical, toxicological, statistical and analytical methods. Equipment: microscope "Zeiss", torsion weighing-machine VT-500, dry-heat electric thermostat TS-80 M-3, autoclave, dry-heat cabinet SHSS-80, haemoglobinometer "Сoulter", counter "Coulter". The first screening of antimicrobial activity of fractions of the plants representatives of genus Galium L. and Artemisia L. has been provided for the first time (It has been examined 49 fractions). 14 lipophilic fractions with high rate and wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity have been found. A slow formation of resistance of microorganisms to the studied fractions has been established. An ability of these fractions to neutralize antilysozymic and adhesive activity of microorganisms has been proven. The toxic properties of lipophilic fractions have been studied for the first time. It has been found that the best way to obtain a complex of lipophilic bioactive compounds with antimicrobial and antifungal properties is a circulating extraction method by processing of raw materials with the organic solvents: chloroform and ethyl acetate. The level of introduction: 5 patents of Ukraine, 2 patent applications to the educational programs of the universities of Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Field of application: biology, medicine, pharmacy.
