Essay

The present study revealed the role of P2X3 receptors in development of different painful syndromes and modulation of these receptors functioning by analogues of diadenosine polyphosphates. We have determined that analogues of diadenosine polyphosphates are stable and selective agonists of P2X3 receptors, and have no effect on other P2X purinoreceptor subtypes. Analogues of diadenosine polyphosphates dramatically decreased amplitudes of currents, which were mediated by functioning of P2X3 receptors. Simultaneously they effectively decreased thermal hyperalgesia and number of nociceptive responses during chronic noninflectional inflammation.
