Essay

Object: age-related macular degeneration, senile cataract. The aim: to increasing in patients with senile cataract, complicated by macular degeneration, based on risk factors study and reducing the occurrence of its progression after surgical treatment, as well as selecting the type of phacoemulsification. The methods: the conventional ophthalmic, the functional methods optical coherence tomography, autorefkeratometer. The criterion of progressive retinal dystrophy prognosis was worked out, based on the defined connection between optical coherence tomography data (obtained in one month after surgery) and the results of patient's clinical examination in long term period.Supplemented by scientific data on the damaging effects of low-frequency ultrasound with ultrasound phacoemulsification aggravating the pathological changes in the retina with age-related macular degeneration. The examination results showed that hydromonitor phacoemulsification does not do any significant effect on the central area of retina. First identified predictor of morphological and functional changes in patients with AMD, after ultrasound phacoemulsification. The results of the study introduced in Pirogov Vinnitsa Regional Hospital, Vinnitsa Regional Hospital of invalids of the Great Patriotic War, State Institution "The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy, National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine".
