Object of research - process of how to control technology-related properties, hardening and directed structure formation of the artificial stone at micro- and macrolevels stone using a modified gypsum-cement-pozzolanic binder(GCPB). Subject of research - an artificial stone made from the GCPB modified with poly- functional complex additive BaCO3+TiO2. Research methods - experimental studies were performed with the help of modern examination techniques of physical-chemical analysis: x-ray phase diffraction, differential-thermal, electron microscopy, petrographic studies. The nature of the pore structure was studied using the method of capillary penetration. The use of this method allowed to clarify the method of assessment of water resistance of building materials. Determination of mean density, compressive strength, weather and frost resistance was conducted according to traditional methods in accordance with current normative documents. Calculations and optimization of he compositions of the modified GCPB were conducted with the help of mathematical methods of planning of experiment.
