The thesis focuses on composing a contrastive and typological characteristics of sound iteration idiocodes in English and Ukrainian fictional speech. The thesis shows the linguosemiotic, structural, phonosemantic and contrastive typological stages of sound iteration idiocode studies. A complex research method to contrast sound iteration idiocodes in English and Ukrainian fictional speech has been designed. The character of sound iteration idiocode formation has been expanded upon. Sound iteration idiocodes in English and Ukrainian fictional speech have been described. The necessity of the term 'phonetic iterants' implementation to denote word combinations connected by means of sound iteration has been established. English and Ukrainian phonetic iterants have been classified.
