Melnychuk V. Environmental Range of Problems in Orthodoxy: Philosophical and Religious Analysis

The thesis is devoted to the study of the environmental range of problems in Orthodoxy, philosophical and has religious analysis of which revealed features of understanding the nature, causes and solutions of environmental problems in the Orthodox theology. The position of the Orthodox Church concerning the emergence of the ecological crisis as a result of the human's sin and spiritual degradation, the connection of its overcoming with the change of value priorities, embodied in the concepts of the "new austerity" and "eucharistic lifestyle" are exposed. The author of the thesis revealed the orthodox comprehension of the impact of techniques and technologies on the occurrence of environmental problems. The author offers the orthodox definition of environmental ethics, reveals the peculiarities of the orthodox interpretation of connections between of environmental issues and demographic ones, particularly in Ukraine. The environmental component of social Orthodox Church activity has been researched.
