Thesis for the Ph.D. degree specialty 05.14.14- Thermal and nuclear power plants.- National Technical University of Ukraine "KPI", Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kiev, 2013. The thesis is devoted to an analysis of the modeling and simulation problem by severe accident management at the nuclear power plants, keeping the molten corium inside the containment in the passive protection systems against severe accidents. The work has concern to supply of a safe operation of the nuclear power plants of the third and forth generations. The resulting pattern of melting-solidification and worked-out methods for solving the boundary-value problems for the partial differential equation arrays describing the heat distribution by cooling the melt pool corium with immersion in a pool of the "cold" blocks of sacrificial materials serve for the stated goal. Such blocks of the sacrificial materials may remove the large amounts of the heat from the molten corium. The author has simulated a few scenario of the corium's cooling with the blocks of melting sacrificial metals based on the new mathematical models and computer programs developed in the thesis. Key words: melt, corium, passive, protection, severe accident, modeling, computer simulation, melting, solidification.
