Essay

The investigation tasks of dramaturgic heritage of I. Murdoch are outlined. The term 'genre conversion' which is primarily used in literary aspect in plays' analyses conversed from the novels by the writer herself is proposed. The specifics of conversion as a phenomenon in various aspects are outlined. The dynamics of the phenomenon of genre conversion of English drama in fabulous, thematic, and genre levels is analyzed. The influence of modern drama on I. Murdoch's creative process in the context of English drama in the second part of twentieth century is highlighted. The peculiarity of composition, subject of the dramatic conflict is investigated. Dramatic potential, playing and theatrical content of her epical creativity is stressed. In this research the compositional, subjective peculiarities of the conflict in epical text which is further conversed in dramatic one. The poetics of intertextuality of dramas by I. Murdoch is studied. The key paradigm Shakespeare's "Hamlet" is organically included into structure of I. Murdoch's plays. Philosophical, psychological, moral, ethical aspects of dramatic works of the writer: real hero, fictional image, character, plot, embodied in the theatrical versions is underlined. A genre analysis of the dramatic heritage of I. Murdoch is presented. Specifics of genre adaptation of the epic plot of the novel lays in productive approach to epic and dramatic convergention of the plot structure ('The Black Prince', 'The Italian Girl', The Severed Head') which is embodied by the writer. The dramatic and epic form of the dialogue for its specific expressiveness and receptive potential create various in its genre form polarities of works that are in the form of literary experience of the artist complement each other. The genre conversion' is substantial feature of genre forming process, important receptive resource is proved.
