Object of research: primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG). Objective: to increase the effectiveness of surgical treatment of patients with primary open-angle glaucoma by predicting and preventing ciliochoroidal detachment (CCD) based on the study of vascular endothelial growth factor and metabolic features of the vision and their correction, as well as improving the technology of surgery. Methods: ophthalmologic, biochemical, immune-enzyme, clinical observations, methods of statistical analysis. One of the mechanisms of development of CCD is a metabolic disorder of the vision. Expanded scientific data on the regulation of the vascular endothelium in patients with POAG, obtained the value of the reference interval. Supplemented with scientific knowledge on the pathogenesis of CCD after glaucoma operations. One of the mechanisms of development of CCD is the overproduction of VEGF. Supplemented by data on the content of lactate, total protein, glucose, urea and chloride in aqueous humor of patients with POAG, obtained the values of the reference ranges. Developed and put into practice a new method for the prevention of CCD and a new integrated method for the prevention of CCD. The results of the work are adopted in 4 leading ophthalmic hospitals of Ukraine, the main provisions of the work are included in lecture's program and practical work of ophthalmology chairs in 3 Medical Universities of Ukraine. Sphere of use - medicine, ophthalmology.
