Essay

The thesis presents the results of the complex analysis of the artistic nature of the author's series "Potteriana" by J. K. Rowling. There have been determined the principles of its cyclization and its genre definition as a fairytale and fantastic hybrid formation of novel type (educational, adventurous, detective, in particular). The composition and plot, personage and chronotope levels of the whole series as well as its separate parts have been considered. It has been shown that in the basis of the plot and fable structure of the series there is mainly a matrix of the magic fairy tale, and the driving force of the macroplot (the series level) and the plot of its separate parts is a substantial cosmological conflict. Its solution is dramatized by the ramified system of additional conflicts and intrigues taking place within fairytale or fantastic chronope.
