Essay

The following thesis pioneers in revealing the modification of narrator's image in G. Norminton's works in the context of genre transformations in the post-modernist novel. The dynamic of narrator's functions and the usage of various methods in creating "an author's mask" in the novels of English author are figured. The concept of personality and world itself in post-modernism and the reconsideration of Renaissance romantic myth about Artist by the author are analysed. In conclusion it was clarified that in the post-modernist literature the concept of "an author's mask" becomes even more complete - the principle of playing with reader is on the verge of frankness, and bonds between life and the process of creation as well as the mimesis' principle are gradually disclaimed. "An author's mask" helps him to retain the unity of his point of view on this chaotic and illogic image of the world created by the post-modernist author. All in all those mentioned principles gain an exceptional specific in G. Norminton's novels.
