Essay

Object: Polish social-political thought in the 1990s – early 2000s. Objective: full exploring the features of the existence and modification in the Polish public consciousness late XX – early XXI century historical stereotypes about Ukraine and Ukrainian which associated with the history of Ukraine and the Polish-Ukrainian relations in the twentieth century. Methods: multidisciplinary approach, discourse analysis, analytical, structural and functional analysis, historical and genetic, historical and comparative, historical and typological. Results: for the first time in Ukrainian science comprehensively investigated the historical stereotypes about Ukraine and Ukrainians in contemporary Poland, and its impact on inter-ethnic and inter-state relations, improved approaches to understanding the mechanisms of emergence, dissemination and destruction of stereotypes of social, ethnic and national groups; it was found that the democratization of society, wide access to information contribute to reassess old prejudices and establish good relations between nations. Scope of application: when writing a synthetic monographs on the history of Polish-Ukrainian relations in the late XX – early XXI century, on the history of Polish foreign policy, as well as for the preparation of university textbooks and instructional publications, special courses about modern history of Poland and the Polish-Ukrainian relations.
