Kostiuk I. Peculiarities of periodontitis treatment in permanent teeth in children with the use of herbal extracts.

Dissertation is devoted to the study of an impact of chronic and exacerbated granulating periodontitis of permanent teeth on a child's general health condition. Particularly on the activity of liver enzymes, pro-oxidant and antioxidant processes in blood serum and oral fluid, as well as clinical and experimental justification of the proposed comprehensive treatment method of the pathology. A new treatment paste based on delphinium and calcium hydroxide for temporary obturation of permanent root canals in children in a case of granulating periodontitis has been developed and tested on rats. Morphological, densitometric and biochemical researches of liver tissues, soft tissues, lower jaws and blood serum have proved the absence of general and local toxic influence of the paste and its anti-inflammatory and osteoplastic properties. Comprehensive treatment that included local application of herbal medications such as chlorophyllipt and delphinium tincture as well as general use of "Darsil" and "Calcium osteovit" helped to improve child's general health condition, periodontal bone reparation, which has been proved by normalization of Ca and P levels, activity of acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase in biological fluids and convincing and gradual decrease of radiographic index PAI.
