Essay

Object: acute inflammation of the orbit. Purpose: to optimize the differential diagnostics in patients with acute orbital inflammation by design of based algorithm using radiologic computed tomography with subsequent densitometry. Methods: computed tomography, helical computed tomography, densitometry (with the help of software "eFilm Lite"), exophthalmometry, orbitotonometry, visometry, ophthalmoscopy, corneal algesimetry; computed tomograph, helical computed tomograph, orbitotonometer, algesimeter. It was found that orbital fat densitometric density changed, depending on the stage of inflammation. The method of differential diagnosis of acute orbital inflammation was worked out by determining the stage of orbital fat inflammation in accordance with quantitative densitometry, allowed objectively differentiate the stage of infiltrative and purulent stage of inflammation. The mechanisms of optic nerve lesion in acute inflammation of orbit were clarified and it was shown that disregulatory disorders of the orbital venous system is one of them. The method for predicting the optic nerve atrophy that based on complex criteria (the ratio of the diameter of the orbital part of the optic nerve and superior ophthalmic vein in acute orbital inflammatory disease) was offered. The results of the study are introduced in 5 medical establishments of Ukraine. Sphere of application - medicine, ophthalmology.
