Essay

The paper identifies the current species composition, distribution, number, vertical altitudinal distribution of birds population in the Ukrainian Carpathians. The analysis of changes in avifauna for the recent 50 years is given. Basic tendencies and expected perspectives of its development are described, and main negative impacts are provided. Some recommendations for conservation measures are given.
