Essay

Transformation operators are extended to the Sobolev spaces. Continuity and invertibility of the operators in these Sobolev spaces are proved. Boundary controllability problems for the wave equation with variable potential are investigated on a half-axis at a free time and investigated at a given time. These controllability problems are also investigated on a segment at a time that does not exceed the segment length. The set of the initial functions that can be steered to the origin and to its neighborhood is described by the transformation operators for these cases. Controls are found explicitly.
