Essay

The research is dedicated to investigation of genetic diversity and evolutionary dynamics of influenza viruses type A and B isolated in Ukraine from 2007 to 2012. The phylogenetic trees were constructed using neighbor joining (NJ) method to find out the genetic similarity of studied viruses. The analysis showed similarities of isolated strains of all subtypes/genetic lines to viruses from other countries and vaccine strains. The maximum likelihood (ML) method with using best fit model displayed the evolution dynamics of influenza viruses isolated in Ukraine over the past five years.
