Object - technology and equipment of magnesium carbonate chlorination process. Purpose - intensification of technology for deriving magnesium-chlorate melts for electrolytic magnesium production. Methods - theoretical and experimental investigations. Novelty - increasing rate of chlorination process by means of reductant gasification has been determined for the first time. High-performance technology of magnesite chlorination by chlorine and carbon oxide mixture has been developed and tested at the pilot plant. Industry - non-ferrous metallurgy.
