Essay

The thesis deals with E. Humperdinck's opera creativity as the birth of a new quality-evolutionary step in the development of the opera's genre from the late XIX - early XX centuries. The analytical base of the thesis are the piano and orchestra scores of composer's operas ("Hansel and Gretel", "Seven goats" "The Sleeping Beauty", "The Royal children" in two versions - as a romance and a fairy opera, "Marriage against their will"), and epistolary heritage of E. Humperdinck. Author of the thesis has identified the genre-style features, the specificity of the composer's different interpretations of opera genres, methods of their implementation, the role of E. Humperdinck's opera creativity, as a typical product of the later period (summarizing the generalization and foresight functions), and, in general, the link between the two eras (also musical).
