Balatska O. Discursive Properties of Criticism in Research Articles in English

The object of the study is criticism in research article in English; the subject - its mental base, communicative goals and verbal (formal, content, pragmatic) features. The aim of the paper is a complex analysis of criticism by reviewing its stereotypical representation. The methods used in the research include definitive, component, formal-syntactic, text-interpretation, pragmatic-functional, quantitative analysis as well as cognitive-discursive interpretation and cognitive modelling methods. The paper is the first to review the discursive properties of scientific criticism in English: verbal, cognitive, communicative and genre-compositional; to single out and define its discursive tactics. The results of the research are a contribution into discursive studies, linguistic genology of scientific communication, communication theory, lingvocultural and sociolinguistic studies. These results can be implemented in the courses of (comparative) stylistics, a number of special courses, in the classes of translation, in students' and postgraduates' studies.
