The isothermal section of the Gd-{Mn, Fe, Zn}-In phase diagrams over the whole concentration range and Eu-Ni-In up to 33 at. % of Eu at 870 K were constructed based on X-ray phase and partly EDX-analysis. The 23 new ternary compounds was synthesized for the first time in these and related systems. The crystal structure was determined for 20 compounds. The existence of 25 earlier known compounds was confirmed, the crystal structures of 20 of them were refined. The homogeinity ranges of solid solutions and ternary compounds were established.The eight hydrides RNi9In2Hx, RNi5InHx и EuCu5InH1.25 were synthesized. The hydride EuNi4.9InH1.5 is the first representative of a new structure type. The investigation of magnetic properties of 20 intermetallic compounds, electrical resistivity of 10 compounds and heat capacity of six phases were performed. The structural relation between new structure type EuNi4.9InH1.5 and different modifications of compounds with general composition 1:5:1 was established. Relationship between structure types, investigated in this work and known from literature was chracaterized. The comparative analysis of magnetic properties and the valence state of the rare-earth atoms in the investigated compounds has been performed.
