Bus O. Development of the banking supervision in Ukraine

This dissertation is the research into the development of banking supervision in Ukraine. In the process of research definitions of terms “banking regulations”, “banking supervision”, “banking control” were refined based on existing practice and created legislature and regulatory framework for banking regulations and supervision. In the empirical part of the dissertation research the questions of analysis and evaluation of banks’ capital, assets, liquidity and market risk by banking supervision authorities are highlighted. It was suggested to improve the methodological approaches to the rating of the bank activities according to the rating system CAMELS based on the system of measures that allow carrying out the evaluation of quarterly financial statements of the banks focusing on capital adequacy, asset quality, liquidity, profitability of the bank, bank’s sensitivity towards the market risks influences and the dynamics of the selected bank performance measures. Advisability of introducing weight coefficients for the main components of the rating system CAMELS and a formula for the calculation of the complex rating of the bank’s activities were justified.
