3. The thesis analyzes sociolinguistically determined peculiarities of British TV informational programmes announcers' speech. The improved methods of phonetic analysis by means of modern computer programmes reveal and visualize differences in frequency and temporal organization of the announcers'speech considering territorial and janre parameters. Qualitative and quantitative characteristics of vowels, defined by spectral analysis allowed to conclude that being the most mobile, changeable and expressive means, vowels play the role of social markers and contribute to indentifying speakers.
