The thesis is devoted to the comparative analysis of an inner form of metaphor, its investigation in the aspects of Cognitive and Cultural Linguistics in the English and Ukrainian Languages. An inner form of metaphor is a sensuous and mental representation, semantic code of nomination, source of universal and nationally-marked linguistic and cognitive world depiction. The specific character of the correlation between concept, metaphor and its inner form has been cleared up. The comprehensive sample of the interlingual comparison of the inner form of metaphor has been proposed. The analysis of the inner form of metaphor denoting concepts TIME, LOVE, HEART, PRIVACY in English and Ukrainian has been made. Three types of interlingual correlations of the inner form of metaphor denoting the mentioned concepts have been described. They are: 1) general inner form of metaphor with identical associative representation in the languages under comparison; 2) distinctive inner form of metaphor with different associative representation; 3) inner form of the metaphor characteristic only for one language under investigation. Quantitative findings have been fixed, emotive pecularity of the inner form of metaphor has been defined. The comparative studying of the inner form of metaphor in the aspect of Cognitive and Cultural Linguistics reveals the nature of the languages under analysis, details the ability of the inner form of metaphor to demonstrate general and distinctive worldviews, describes mental and cultural pecularities of the inner form of metaphor.
