The thesis is devoted to the study of structural-semantic and functional characteristics of English magazine texts advertising women's cosmetics. The common and distinctive features of magazine cosmetics advertising have been revealed. The blocks within the structural-semantic organization of the texts under investigation have been singled out and characterized. The functions of nominative and communicative units included in the above blocks have been identified. The nominative units have been considered in terms of their part-of-speech reference; the communicative units have been analyzed according to the following criteria of sentence classification: the number of predicative centers, modality, expressiveness, stylistic syntax. The statistical data of the results obtained have been presented. It has been shown that the frequency of usage and functioning of the nominative and communicative units under discussion depends on the semantics and functions of the specific verbal block in which these units are presented.
