Matvievskaya A. "In absentia" in the criminal proceedings of Ukraine.

The paper clarified the in absentia as a special form of criminal proceedings, defined stages of its historical evolution and analyzed the problems of its development in the theory and practice of national criminal justice. Peculiarities of the modern state in Ukraine, it is determined that the principal changes in the scientific interpretation of the procedural form and the corresponding changes in the legislation led to the loss of this institution to the large share of their socio - legal, legal and procedural possibilities. Formulates proposals aimed at improvement of criminal procedural mechanism of ensuring the rights of the parties in absentia, as well as the enhancement of its efficiency on the basis of bringing this form of criminal justice in its traditional understanding and enforcement.
