Bezpalova K. Prosodic peculiarities of English Traditional and Alternative Sermons (Experimental Phonetic Research)

The dissertation focuses on the comprehensive study of linguistic organization of a modern English sermon in its traditional and alternative realizations. The subject of the study is linguistic (specifically prosodic) features of the oral English traditional and alternative sermon texts in connection with the specific extralingual factors.Linguistic investigation proper allowed to study the lexical means of sacrality realization in the sermon texts, to trace the peculiarities of citation in the sermon texts, to scrutinize the syntactic organization specificity of the compositional text parts and to reveal basic prosodic regularities in the traditional and alternative gospellers' speech.
