The identification of the content and volume of the term called “somatism” and determining the frequency of the component-somatizm on the basis of lexicographic sources and on the basis of text fragments from four types of discourse. The status of the given sector of phraseological units has been specified; the functional aspect of the conceptualization of phraseological units with a somatic component has been analyzed. The circle of our scientific research includes the basic mechanisms of neology of German somatic phraseology that create phraseological units.
