Essay

The dissertation deals with the complex research of the problem of national factor in the Ukrainian Greek-Catholicism in the context of the Ukrainian society consolidation. It is approved that dominating national-patriotic discourse is typical of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholicism. That results from its faith-based fundamentals which are able to postulate the religious factor as the main pledge of national state development. It is revealed that in the Ukrainian Greek-Catholicism national factor appears to be an authentic model of integration in social existence, by means of self-fulfillment of intellectual and religious potential of a personality and the nation. It also defines ethnic and axiological orientation of people, serves for effective realization in the process of national development. It is based on deep realizing, by each Ukrainian, of own ethnic-national community and identification with it. The work also investigates, by means of comparative analysis, the interpretative character of national factor in the Ukrainian Greek-Catholicism. It is emphasized that the national church has gone through difficult historical way of transformation from uniate interpreting of understanding of the church unity to appearance and realization of modern ecumenical models of national-religious consensus, by means of gradual implementation of the idea of Kyiv Church patriarchy.
